This weekend my friend Augusta and I took Carsten to her first concert! It was Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen. Because Carsten did so well during her first quarter of middle school, I took her to the mall and got her a new outfit for the concert. In case you had not gathered this, Carsten’s currency is clothing! (You should check out her fashion blog in my blogroll, if you haven’t already!)
Augusta and I have been friends since grade school and now live only 2 miles from each other! My parents happened to be here visiting from Kansas and it was the first time they had seen Gus in 15 years!
Our seats were up REALLY high, but I don’t think there is really a bad seat in the Target Center.
Carsten and I enjoyed some concert food and Gus went and stood in line to get Carsten her FIRST REAL CONCERT T-SHIRT!!! It was so sweet of Gus to do that for Carsten!
We had so much fun dancing and singing! I lost track of how many times Gus and Carsten hugged each other! They were so adorable!
Carsten was pretty tired by the end of the night. I think it is safe to say that it was a night she will never EVER forget!
The next morning we were up bright and early for another exciting day! My Dad has been a Vikings fan for as long as they have existed, but he has never been to a game. I have wonderful neighbors, named Pete and Kelly, who have season tickets… they gave me tickets to the game so that I could take my Dad. It gets me all choked up even typing it. When I was little my Dad would take me to Twin’s games in the Metrodome, but he hadn’t even been in the Dome for 15 years. The Dome is probably going to be tore down soon to make way for a new Vikings stadium, so this will be the last time my Dad would ever be in the Dome too.
It is hard to put into words how much it meant to me to see the wonder and excitement in my Dad’s eyes. He looked so happy the.entire.time.
We had AWESOME seats and it was a really good game, the Vikings won 21-14!!!
My Dad is a man of VERY few words, but during the car ride home he said, “That was something everyone should get to experience once in their lifetime. Thank you so much for doing that for me.”
My Dad is 76 years old, and every moment is precious to me. I cannot thank Pete and Kelly enough for giving me this memory with my Dad.
What a GREAT WEEKEND!!
