Time for a photo blog!  Weeeeeeeeeeee!

Yesterday I cleaned out all of the birdhouses around my yard…  I might be weird… but I think it is pretty cool to see what birds use to line their nests.  The birds in my yard LOVE Saint Bernard hair!  I keep imagining a wee bird in a tiny business suit (the hair supplier) selling my dog’s fur for top dollar!

Last year Carsten and I made and repaired a bunch of birdhouses, installed new stick perches, and hinges so it would be easier to clean them out…. cuz I roll handyman style.  I wasn’t sure any birdies moved in, but there was a nest in all six houses!  So I must be doing SOMETHING right!  YAY ME!

I also hung two new houses that I bought at that outlet place that I super love.  They match my house, with cute little cedar shakes on the roof.  I got two birdhouses and one bird-feeder.  They were around $50 each regular price, and I paid on $40 total for all three! That’s right!  They were about $13 each! WEEEEEE!

I finally put together the other bunny hutch.  But I still need to build a bunny run.  See?  More proof that I am rollin’ handyman style!

No hurry to build the run… (which is good cuz I might be rollin handyman style, but it still takes me a kawillion years to make something) because Raff’s hair is still growing back in, so he is still inside.  He is doing so good!  He still has three staples in, but most of the sores are gone!  He goes back to the doctor tomorrow, to get those 3 staples out.  I know.  OUCH.  I think he deserves a treat on the way home… anyone know where I can go through a drive thru and get a carrot?

I moved all the bunny houses down too… cuz we are thinking about putting a fence between the retaining wall and the garage, so I could let one bunny out at a time to play and NOT have to crawl inside that teeny run.  I am like a GIANT hanging out in a cereal box when I get in there.

Here is a picture of Raleigh… you can still see where his bite was.  Even though he only had one, it was almost as bad as ALL of Rafferty’s.

Yesterday I drained my whole entire fish pond and refilled it.  It took me F-O-R-E-V-E-R!  And for the record?  Touching slimy algae makes me urp.  And even though it was around 70 outside, the water was still FREEZING!  How do I know?  Because every time I clean the pond at least ONCE I slip and fall in the water.  I swear the fish are tripping me.  But, anyhoodle, it sure looks nice now!

OH! I made croutons!  And I am going to go ahead and declare myself the Queen of Croutons!  There was not a single one left… not. a. one.  And they were super fantastic delicious.  I am NEVER going to buy Croutons at the grocery store AGAIN!  EVER!  Carsten even said, Mommy!  These cwootons are INCREDIBLE!And it was SO easy!

  • 15 slices bread
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt (optional)

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Brush bread on both sides with melted butter. Cut bread slices up into small cubes. Sprinkle with garlic salt. Arrange cubes on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees F  for 15 minutes or until browned. Let cool. Store croutons in a covered container or plastic bag.

While making MYSELF a salad for lunch today (with MORE croutons) I made up Mack and Velcro’s dinner plates.  I feed them at night, right before I go to bed… because that is when THEY are waking up.  I thought maybe you might be curious what THEIR diet looks like.

The only thing I’ll add to their plates tonight is one of the cubes of their diet, it has bee pollen in it and I make it up in a big batch, freeze it, and then cut it into cubes.  They each get one cube a night.
