Long Time

Long time…. no blog. Aug 8, ’06 10:22 AM
for everyone

Well, I have to assume that some people thought that I had retired the blog.  I have not.  I just took a REALLY long break.

A lot has been going on with our family.  We moved from Kansas to South Carolina just last week!  BB got a promotion so we packed up and came to SC… well we didn’t actually pack, but you know what I mean.  What a beautiful place South Carolina is, despite missing my family and friends I am doing alright.

I love my house.  I hate people that say things like that, but just once indulge me, okay?  I loved our house in KS, and I didn’t think it would be possible to love a house more than that.  But, this is the house of my dreams.  The location, the lay-out, the style of it, I like it all.  In fact, we thought about building a house but this house was so close to the plan that we had picked that we decided to buy it instead, we just got lucky in that the builder had just finished building it at the same time we were looking to move.

We tried like hell to get here as fast as we could so that the kids could start school on August 9th.  I am so glad that we did.  CJ is going to middle school that is just one year old, and it is such a nice facility that it makes me wish I could be a sixth grader all over again.  Both of the kid’s schools are just a few minutes from our house and they are both SO excited to start school.  BB is really excited about his job.  The last few months in KS were very stressful and he worked some really long hours.  He already seems more relaxed and happy.

Meanwhile, the house in KS has been sold.  We will be released from the contract by the relocation company sometime next week.  It was a real relief even though the house had just been on the market three weeks.  After going through that year of double mortgages the last time we moved we felt a little gun shy about listing a house, not sure if we should trust our judgement.  But, it worked out this time.  With the relocation company offering a buy-out if we didn’t sell in thirty days it made the whole transaction a lot less stressful.

I wish I could say that things were going as well with my RA as they are in every other area of our lives, but they aren’t.  I think the stress, the physical activity, and the climate change are probably the cause of my flare.  I am having a great deal of trouble with my knees, one knee especially and have really had to take it easy and spend quite a bit of time off of it.  It is the worst pain, redness, and swelling I have ever experienced in a joint.  It is noticably bigger and hot and red, despite everything I do.  None of my meds are even touching the swelling and pain and I am really starting to worry that some serious irreversible damage is being done.  The SC VA promised to have an appointment for me within these first two weeks, so I am hoping that they uphold that promise.

Well, tomorrow is an early morning since it is the first day of school here.  I will be posting more often now.  With both the kids in school I will have quite a bit of free time.  I hope to get some pictures of the house posted soon too.
