My Dad had the stress test and an echo-cardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) done today. They both went well. Right about now he is being discharged from the hospital. He is going to be following up with the Gastroenternologist.
About 12 years ago my Dad had a hiatal hernia that resulted in emergency surgery… (Hiatal hernia is a condition in which the upper portion of the stomach protrudes into the chest cavity through an opening of the diaphragm called the esophageal hiatus. This opening usually is large enough to accommodate the esophagus alone. With weakening and enlargement however, the opening (or herniation) can allow upward passage or even entrapment of the upper stomach above the diaphragm.)
At that time the hernia was stapled down, so it would not cause his stomach to get twisted again. They are thinking that now he is having more problems with this hernia. So, he will probably have to do a barium swallow test, and that should determine if that is what is going on.
There is no change for my Grandma.
Thank you, all of you, for your thoughts and prayers. They are greatly appreciated.
