Hope everyone had a happy 4th! We had a low key holiday, just hanging out with friends and neighbors in the culdesac.
The morning started with a Bloody Mary bar, which I didn’t participate in because I was busy slaving over these: 60 Mini Key Lime Tarts.
At 3:30 all the kids gathered with their decorated bikes, scooters and wagons for the annual parade down the block and back.
We relaxed, drank adult beverages and just hung out until dinner at 6. Several neighbors used their smokers to smoke a beef brisket, pork, and ribs.
I always worry that we won’t have enough food… and then it turned out that we barely had enough room on the tables for all of the food!
Everything was so delicious…. I think we all ate too much. Then we sat around talking and beveraging until it started to get dark.
The best part of the night was when Cody came home and helped our friend Chazo set off fireworks. Cody has helped light off the fireworks every year since he was old enough, but I thought he was going to be hanging out with his friends. Instead he came home for awhile to help and that made me so happy.
Hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th!
Looks like you had a great day! I always worry about not having enough food either… but it definitely wasn’t a problem yesterday.:)
